About this template
A bill of sale for a boat: who sold it, who bought it, the price and date, and the boat itself, with its hull identification number (HIN), registration number, engine and, if it’s part of the sale, the trailer. It’s sold “as is”. Fill in the boat and sale details, then send it to the buyer and seller to sign.
Some states require their own bill of sale form, a notarized signature, or a separate title for the trailer before they’ll register the boat. For a vessel documented with the U.S. Coast Guard, use the Coast Guard’s bill of sale (Form CG-1340). Check with your state’s boating agency.
This template is general information, not legal advice. Laws differ between states and countries, so for an important agreement, ask a lawyer to review it.
