Send documents for signature

Send a contract, offer letter or form to the people who need to sign it. They sign from a link in their email, and you get the signed copy with a certificate.

PDF or Word (.docx) • Up to 50 MB · or drop a file here

Needs a free account; the people who sign don’t

How to request a signature

  1. Choose your document

A PDF or a Word document; Word files are turned into a PDF so the layout can't shift.

  2. Add signers and fields

Enter each signer's name and email, and place their signature, initials, date and name fields.

  3. Send it

Everyone gets a private link by email. When all have signed, you all get the signed PDF and its certificate.

What you can do with Request Signatures

No account for signers

People sign from the link in their email, on a phone, tablet or computer.

Signing order

Let everyone sign at once, or one after another: each person is emailed when it's their turn.

Reminders and tracking

See who has opened and signed, and remind the people who haven't.

Certificate of completion

An audit trail of who signed, when and from where, with a fingerprint of the document.

Signers can ask about it

If you allow it, signers can ask questions about the document and get plain answers before they sign.

Filed for you

Requests and signed copies are kept in your Document Manager, in a Signature requests folder.

Questions about Request Signatures

Do signers need a Dokkiman account?

No. Only you need a free account to send requests; signers just use the link in their email.

How many requests can I send?

The free trial includes a few requests a month and Basic more; Pro is unlimited within fair use. The Free plan, after the trial, doesn't include requests. See the pricing page for the numbers.

Are Dokkiman signatures legally binding?

Yes, for most contracts and agreements. In the US, the ESIGN Act and UETA give electronic signatures the same legal effect as handwritten ones when the signer means to sign, agrees to sign electronically, and the signed record is kept. Dokkiman records each of these: signers tick a box agreeing to sign electronically before they finish, and every signed document comes with a Certificate of Completion. In the EU, UK, Canada and Australia, electronic signatures are also valid for most contracts; Dokkiman's are simple electronic signatures, not the qualified signatures a few EU documents require. This is general information, not legal advice.

Which documents can't be signed electronically?

In the US: wills, codicils and testamentary trusts; adoption, divorce and other family-law papers; court orders and official court documents; notices of utility shut-off, foreclosure or eviction, and cancellation of health or life insurance; and documents that must be notarized. Some deeds, recordings and promissory notes have their own rules too. Other countries have similar lists, so check for yours.

What proves who signed?

Each signer gets their own private link by email, so signing shows they had access to that email address. The Certificate of Completion lists every step (sent, opened, signed or declined) with the time, IP address and browser, plus SHA-256 fingerprints of the document before and after signing, so any later change shows. The signed PDF and certificate are emailed to everyone and kept in your Document Manager.

Can I send a Word document?

Yes. It's turned into a PDF first, so it looks the same for everyone who signs.
