In the US, the ESIGN Act and UETA give electronic signatures the same legal effect as handwritten ones when the signer means to sign, agrees to sign electronically, and the signed record is kept. Dokkiman records each of these: signers tick a box agreeing to sign electronically before they finish, and every signed document comes with a Certificate of Completion. In the EU, UK, Canada and Australia, electronic signatures are also valid for most contracts; Dokkiman's are simple electronic signatures, not the qualified signatures a few EU documents require.
