Questions about Redact PDF

Is the text really gone, or just covered?

Really gone. When you save, the text, image pixels and drawings under each box are removed from the file, then a black box is drawn there. Copying or searching the PDF won't find them.

What's the difference between redact and white-out?

White-out covers something with white, but what's underneath stays in the file. Redact removes it.

Should I check the result?

Yes, always. Open the saved PDF and search for the words you redacted to make sure they're gone, and check that nothing was missed elsewhere in the document.

Is it free?

Yes. You can do this without an account and download the result. A free account adds the Document Manager, to keep your files in folders.
